Large Oaxaca Apron

Each apron is custom made in Oaxaca, Mexico. The female artisans of Oaxaca specialize in one-of-a-kind hand embroidered aprons as it makes up part of their daily attire. These aprons button and tie in the back, for a beautiful fitted look.

Most villages surrounding the city of Oaxaca, and an apron is more than a utilitarian article of clothing used while cooking. It’s a statement of identity, style, and social class. You can identify which village a woman is from by the style of apron she wears.

Many aprons are embroidered with flowers, plants, fruits, and sometimes animal figures.
